"Something magical began to happen among the villagers. As each person opened their heart to give, the next person gave even more. And as this happened, the soup grew richer and smelled more delicious.”-Stone Soup, retold by Jon J Muth Sign up HERE to volunteer to help at the 2011 Thanksgiving Community Dinner.
Fall is here, the air is crisp and cool, which means that Thanksgiving Day is just around the corner. I consider each year a blessing, but this year is so much more blessed for me. Many of us are facing financial difficulties, a lost job, and uncertain prospects for the future, but I am so thankful for all of the blessings that I do have. I live in a wonderful community full of people who love and care for each other. This community has been my home for most of my life, and I feel connected to so many people here. One of the great ways that I experience that connection each year is at the Community Thanksgiving Dinner. It has always been one of my favorite holidays, and being a part of this particular celebration has made it that much more special to me. I hope that you have had a similar experience as well, and if you have not yet, then please consider joining us this year.
There are many opportunities to serve at the 2011 Community Thanksgiving Dinner. There are not only positions available the day before and Thanksgiving Day, but also we have positions available starting now and leading up to the feast on Thanksgiving Day. If you would like to help in one capacity or another, please sign up, or give me a call at 770-887-2900. If you are looking for others ways to serve on Thanksgiving morning, here are links to some service opportunities in the Atlanta area:

A Special Message
Thank you to all of you who made the 2010 Community Thanksgiving Dinner such a success. We served approximately 800 meals to guests in our Family Life Center and more than 125 meals to homebound members of our community. The volunteer effort was amazing. We were so blessed to have so many home cooked turkeys, dressing, and desserts, along with the hand cooked and mashed potatoes. Our food pantry benefited greatly from the food drives that so many of you helped make possible. Of course, the decorating team turned the Family Life Center into a beautiful harvest dining room, and our delivery and kitchen crews made the Community Thanksgiving Dinner run like clockwork.
